The Christmas Window | |

There are several points of focus in this window. The
eye is first captured by the bright yellow and orange star
resting in the sky, pointing downward to the place where Jesus, "King of
the Judeans" was born (Matthew 2:2,9).
As the
eye travels downward it rests upon the yellow sun just above the
traditional depiction of a manger. The sun is a favorite Old Testament
image used to represent God's wholeness, power, protection, and
vindication (Malachi 4:2, Psalm 84:11). In the Incarnation, the Word of
God becoming flesh and "staking His tent among us" (John 1:14), we believe
that such wholeness and vindication has risen upon us. The flaming,
exuberant colors of the window capture well the rightful sense of joy and
celebration of the season. |
